in the name of god amen I Rich Browning of Earls Colne in the county of Essex butcher being sound in mind body and understanding do make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first I give and devise to Susanna Browning my wife all that my freehold messuage or tenement with appurtenances thereto belonging situate and being in Earls Colne Street wherein I now dwell to and for her use and benefit absolutely also I give and devise to Susanna my said wife all that my field or croft in the Meeting House Lane in Earls Colne aforesaid adjoining the premises of Thos Walford to and for her use and benefit absolutely and my will further is that in case it should happen that my said wife should not want the aforesaid premises for her benefit and use before her decease then in that case so happening I give and devise the said premises to Jn Pitstow of Earls Colne miller and Elijah Pettit of Coggeshall butcher and their heirs upon special trust and confidence nevertheless and to the intent and purpose that they their executors or one of them do with all convenient speed after the death of my said wife bargain sell and convey the said premises for the best price or prices that can be gotten for the same and out of the money or monies arising from such sale or sales thereof after deducting the necessary expenses attending such sale or sales I give and bequeath the sum of £200 to Jn and Rich Browning sons of my late son Rich Browning deceased share and share alike and my will and meaning is that the said £200 shall be paid to the said Jn and Rich Browning by my executors hereinafter named after the decease of my said wife yearly at £10 each per year unless my executors shall think it will be a benefit to them to advance the whole at once then in that case I do hereby empower them so to do upon their giving a sufficient discharge for the same the residue of the money arising from such sale or sales together with the remainder of my personal estate of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be that my wife shall die in possession of I give and bequeath to Rich Browning and Sarah Pettit wife of Elijah Pettit of Coggeshall aforesaid son and daughter of my son Jn Browning share and share alike and my will and meaning is that if either of my said four grandchildren should die before the death of my said wife then in that case so happening I give and bequeath his or her share to the brother or sister then living and if in case it should so happen that both the said Jn and Rich Browning sons of my late son Rich Browning should die before the death of my said wife then in that case so happening I give devise and bequeath their shares unto Rich Browning and Sarah Pettit son and daughter of my son Jn Browning if then living share and share alike, if not living to their heirs absolutely and forever and my will further is that the purchaser or purchasers of my said premises shall not be answerable for the misapplication or nonapplication of the money or monies arising from such sales thereof all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind or quality soever the same may be after payment of my debts funeral expenses and probate of this my will I give and bequeath to my said wife to and for her own use and benefit absolutely and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint Jn Pitstow of Earls Colne aforesaid miller and Elijah Pettit butcher of the parish of Coggeshall executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27.7.1810 Rich Browning signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Wm Owers Jas Owers Isaac Watson
