this is the last will and testament of me Robt Thornback of Earls Colne in the county of Essex farmer made as follows (that is to say) I desire and direct authorise and empower mrs Jane Brazier of Earls Colne aforesaid widow my executrix hereinafter named her executors or administrators with all convenient speed after my decease to bargain sell convey and absolutely dispose of all and every my messuages cottages lands grounds tenements hereditaments and real estates of what tenure or nature soever and wheresoever and also all and singular my household goods and furniture farming stocks cattle corn grain hay crops implements and utensils of and in household husbandry and farming rights credits chattels and personal estate and effects of what nature quality or denomination soever and wheresoever that shall be saleable either entirely or in parcels for the best price or prices and most monies that can be gotten for the same respectively and the monies thereby raised respectively together with the rents issues and profits of my said real estates until such sale or sales and all ready and other monies as I shall leave at my decease (after deducting and paying thereout all charges attending such sale or sales, the charges of my plain but decent funeral the probate hereof, my just debts and all expenses attending the due execution of this my will) to pay and dispose of as follows (that is to say) the sum of £40 apiece to Thos Howard of Halsted in the said county fellmonger Israel Howard of the same place tanner Sam Howard now or late of Terling in the said county abovesaid tanner (the three sons of Thos Howard late of Halsted aforesaid fellmonger deceased Sam Howard of Halsted aforesaid carpenter (son of Sam Howard late of Halsted aforesaid weaver deceased) Jn Howard of Halsted aforesaid tanner Edw Howard of the same place brewer (the two sons of Robt Howard late of Halsted aforesaid weaver deceased) and Jas East now or late park keeper at Marks Hall in the said county and the sum of £20 apiece to Sarah Howard (daughter of the said Sam Howard deceased) and Martha the wife of Wm Clark of Great Coggeshall in the county aforesaid weaver deceased (daughter of the said Robt Howard deceased) all which said nine sums of money or legacies I give and bequeath to all the several persons or legatees herein before named, and desire and direct to be paid to each of them within one year next after my decease by my executrix hereinafter named and the residue of the aforesaid monies to retain and keep to herself the said Jane Brazier which I do hereby give and bequeath to her to and for her own use and disposal and it is my will and desire and I do hereby declare and direct that the receipt or receipts of the said Jane Brazier or of her executors or administrators shall be a full and sufficient discharge to the purchaser or purchasers of all or any part or parts of my said real and personal estates respectively directed to be sold as aforesaid for so much money for which such receipt or receipts shall be given without such purchaser or purchasers being obliged to see to the application or being answerable for any loss misapplication or nonapplication thereof and I do nominate and appoint the said mrs Jane Brazier sole executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills and testaments by me at any time made and declaring this to be my only last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11.8.1814 Robt Thornback signed sealed and declared by the said testator Robt Thornback as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses J.
