in the name of god amen I Cath Dugard of the parish of Earls Colne in the county of Essex widow being of sound mind memory and understanding (thanks be to god for it) though sick in body do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first my will an desire is that all my copyhold premises with the appurtenances thereto belonging which I hold of the manor of Coggeshall shall be sold as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and I do hereby order direct and empower my executors hereinafter named to sell and dispose of the same by public auction or private contract as they in their discretion shall think fit and the money arising therefrom after deducting the necessary expenses attending such sale I give and bequeath unto my executors hereinafter named upon trust that they my said executors or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor do pay unto Major Gooday Pudney of the parish of Feering in the county of Essex the sum of £10 to him his heirs or assigns forever also to Sarah Doe widow of the late Edw Doe of Coggeshall in the said county cordwainer the sum of £5 to her heirs or assigns forever and to Hannah Dowsett the wife of Dan Dowsett of the parish of Halsted in the said county miller the sum of £5 to her her heirs or assigns for ever also to Sam Richardson Sullings of Earls Colne aforesaid saddler the sum of £5 to him his heirs or assigns for ever also to Sam Sadd of Earls Colne aforesaid baker the sum of £5 to him his heirs or assigns for ever also my will and desire is that my executors hereinafter named shall pay to the first collection which shall be made at the Baptist Chapel in the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid for the Baptist Missionary Society after my decease the sum of £5 also my will and desire is that all my household furniture linen and wearing apparel be sold as my executors hereinafter named in their discretion shall think fit and after payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give and bequeath to my friends Sam Sadd aforesaid and Wm Blacklock of Ford Street in the parish of Aldham in the county aforesaid maltster my executors hereinafter named all that my freehold estate situate at Coggeshall aforesaid with the appurtenances thereto belonging together with all the rest residue and remainder of my other estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be and not herein before disposed of upon trust that they the said Sam Sadd and Wm Blacklock or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease sell and dispose of the same or so much thereof as may be in their nature saleable either by public auction or private contract as they in their discretion shall think fit and the money arising therefrom after deducting all reasonable costs charges and expenses attending such sale or sales I give and bequeath to my said executors upon trust that they my said executors or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall place out and invest such money as shall arise by the sale of my said estate and effects after such deductions as aforesaid and also all and every other sum or sums of money that shall come to their hands by virtue of this my will (except as aforesaid) in their or his or her name of names on mortgage or in some or one of the public stock or funds of this kingdom and do and shall stand and be pos sessed of such security or securities upon trust to pay and apply the interest dividends and annual proceeds thereof to my sister Ann Darkin during her life and after her decease to the children of my deceased sister the late Hannah Rolston share and share alike their heirs and assigns forever and my will is that neither of my executors shall be accountable for the money or monies which shall not actually come to their hands by virtue of this my will but each only accountable for the money which they shall receive nor shall either be accountable for the acts and deeds of the other but each only accountable for his own act and deed and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Sam Sadd and Wm Blacklock aforesaid executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will or wills by me at any time heretofore made do constitute this to be my last will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24.3.1828 mark Cath Dugard signed sealed published and declared by the said testatrix Cath Dugard as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Wm Tawall Chas Wing Thos Goldsmith all of Earls Colne
