whereas Thos Turner late of Thorp in the county of Essex cordwinder Ann Meaken of Coggeshall in the county aforesaid propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Halsted and Coxall and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and findin them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to signify unto all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions of marriage the said Thos Turner did come into our public meeting place in Coggeshall aforesaid upon the 18.6.1685 and in a public meeting assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Thos Turner taking the said Ann by the hand said in the fear of the lord and in the presence of you his people I Thos Turner do take my loving friend Ann Meaking to be my wife to be a loving husband unto her until the lord through death separate us then the said Ann Meaking taking the said Thos Turner by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and in the presence of you his people I Ann Meaking do take this loving friend Thos Turner to be my husband and do promise to be unto him a true and loving wife until the lord by death separate us and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties have first subscribed their own names and we who were then present are witnesses that they were so married Thos Turner Ann Turner Robt Meakein Ann Meakein Edw Eatney S am Greedley Phil Day Nath Freeman Jn Browne Thos Purcas Joseph Raylet Robt Ludgater jun Jn Garritt Thos Cox Glanfield Balls Jn Fryitt Ann Drywood Frances Clarke Mary Mines etc
