whereas Jn Chandler of Felsted and Eliz Purcas of Coggeshall Magna both in the county of Essex propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Halsted and Coxall and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to signify unto all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Jn Chandler and Eliz Purcas did come into our public meeting place in Coggeshall aforesaid upon the 20.9.1685 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jn Chandler taking the said Eliz by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and before you his people I Jn Chandler take Eliz Purcas to be my wife promising to be unto her a true and loving husband until the lord by death separate us then the said Eliz taking the said Jn by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and in the presence of his people I Eliz Purcas take this friend Jn Chandler to be my husband promising to be unto him a loving and faithful wife until the lord by death separate us and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties have hereunto first subscribed their names and we who were then present were witnesses that they were so married Jn Chandler Eliz Chandler Jos Drywood Thos Purcas Simon Purcas Jos Chandler Zach Child sen Thos Child Jeptha Child Jos Raylet Thos Drywood Jn Drywood Robt Ludgater sen Sam Greedly Geo Barnard Jn Fryitt Wm Ludgater Jn Ludgater Sarah Ludgater Ann Drywood Mary Purcas Eliz Raylet Eliz Child Sarah Child Sarah Greedly Frances Clarke
