whereas Jas Allen of Halsted in the county of Essex cordwinder and Sarah Wright of Little Coggeshall in the county aforesaid widow propounded their intentions of marriage unto several meetings of the people of god called quakers in Halsted and in Coggeshall Magna and the said meetings having made inquiry concerning them and finding them clear and free from all other persons and nothing appearing to hinder their proceedings in their said intentions of marriage the said meetings gave their consent in the matter these are therefore to certify all whom it doth or may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions the said Jas Allen and Sarah Wright did come in our public meeting place in Coggeshall upon the 4.3.1686 and in a public assembly then and there met in our presence did signify their then taking each other in marriage pronouncing these words following with an audible voice viz the said Jas Allen take the said Sarah by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord I declare unto you this day that I Jas Allen take Sarah Wright to be my wife to live together until the lord separate us by death then the said Sarah take Jas Allen by the hand said friends in the fear of the lord and before you his people I Sarah Wright take Jas Allen to be my husband promising to be unto him a loving and tender wife until the lord (by) death shall separate us and for the better confirmation of this their said marriage the parties above named have here unto subscribed their own names first and we who were then present were witnesses that they were so married Jas Allen Sarah Allen Robt Ludgater sen Robt Yardley Jos Drywood Robt Ludgater jun Robt Evens Jn Fryitt Isaac Stacy Wm Wright Ann Wright Frances Clarke Sarah Clarke Sarah Pemberton Eliz Evens Hannah Ludgater
