depositions exhibited in court by sir Thos Lucas knight concerning Colne bridge Robt Carter of White Colne husbandman aged 80yr deposes that he has known the Great Bridge in Earls Colne about seventy years and that it was in decay about sixty years since in the time of prior Abell prior of the Priory of Earls Colne and that the said prior did repair the said bridge at the proper costs of the said prior and that after in the time of Jn earl of Oxenford father of the now earl the said bridge was again in decay and then the said Jn being owner of the said Priory did at his own charge did repair the bridge neither did he ever hear or know of any contribution or money given or demanded of any other person for making or repairing the same bridge
