Robt Brewer of Coggeshall husbandman aged 80yr deposes that he has known the Great Bridge for forty years and that about that time a part of the bridge was broken down and then it was repaired by Jn earl of Oxford at his own charge and that he knows the better for that he was hired by one Ward bailiff to the said earl to drive certain piles of the said bridge and that the said Ward gave him half a bushel of wheat for his days work and he remembers that at the time of the repairing of the bridge the said Ward gave away some of the old timber of the bridge to one Myles a butcher of that town
