michaelmas term to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Earls Colne whereas upon your complaint it appeareth unto us two of her majesty's justices of the peace for this county whereof one is of the quorum that one Thos Horne of the parish of Alphamstone in this county did come into your parish of Earls Colne on the 24.6.last past and did then and there receive great damage by a horse accidentally going over him in the queen's highway in the said parish and by so doing did break his leg and bruise him in several other parts that he hath not been fit to remove till this time but has been in the parish of Earls Colne ever since under the care of an able surgeon and good nurses and the charge of the surgeon amounting to the sum of 10li19s and the charge of the nursing lodging and provision amount to the sum of 2li10s and for carrying him home and for orders and other charges 14s these are therefore in her majesty's name to will and require you forthwith to convey the said Thos Horne to the parish of Alphamston aforesaid and there to deliver him to the churchwardens or overseers of the said parish together with a copy of this order and the said overseers of the poor of Alphamston aforesaid are hereby ordered and required forthwith to take care of and provide for the said Thos Horne and likewise to pay unto the overseers of the poor of the parish of Earls Colne the sum of 14li3s it being to defray the charge of the surgeon and nurse and other necessaries and hereof fail not given under our hands and seals this 26.7.1703 Hen Ayloffe Jn Cressener |
