text: In the evening we went to the Laisong camp. Two young men met me on the way and handed me a telegram which said that the Government of India had permitted me to visit both Nagaland and NEFA. We hurried up to the outpost, where the Commander, recently returned from Gauhati, welcomed us very cordially. We were offered tea and sat down to write the messages necessitated by the new (48) turn of events. I must go to Guilong, where I am expected, and from there will go to Maibong. There I hope a jeep will meet me on the 24th, and on the 25th I hope to reach Shillong. On the 27th I ought to be able to start for Nagaland.
text: We returned in the dark by the light of our torches. I am a bit stiff, but in good shape. Though we started the day before 6am I feel reasonably awake at 11 pm.
