whereas at a view with court of Edw de Vere earl of Oxford held thursday 24.9.1590 a certain Sam Brewer son of Wm Brewer was admitted tenant of the lord to one pasture of land called Debnams containing about 30a of land as by a copy of court roll produced here in court is clearly shown and appears now it is shown by the homage that the said Sam Brewer after the last court and before this court died and before his death lying in extremis surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Thos Ball instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Brewer and Rich Wade two customary tenants of this manor the said parcel of land called Debnams to the use and behoof of his last will and the tenor of which is in the following words item I give and bequeath unto Sam Brewer my son all my copyhold lands lying in Earls Colne called Debnams with their appurtenances to have and to hold to the said Sam his heirs and assigns forever according to and by the said testament under his seal and hand here in court produced bearing the date 6.4.1605 clearly shown and appears who now the said Sam Brewer present here in court sought admittance to the said premises to whom the lord by his steward granted seisin to have for himself and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant
