whereas at a court here held the thursday in easter week being 20.4.1598 Jn Cutler was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to two crofts of land called Bomefielde with 1a of aldercarr as it lies together between the king's highway leading from Coggeshall on one part and a croft of land parcel of a tenement called Procknotts on the other part now at this court it is shown by the homage that the aforesaid Jn Cutler out of this court and after the last court surrendered the said croft of land and the aforesaid aldercarr with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Cobbe instead of the bailiff in the presence of Rich Parker and Jn Buntinge two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor to the use and behoof of Thos Hale senior and his heirs forever who present in court sought for himself admittance thereof to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Thos Hale and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine as is shown in the margin and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
