to this court came Wm Rayner and Joan his wife who held for themselves and their heirs from the lord of this manor by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor etc one messuage with garden adjoining late of Wm Oldhall as it is clearly divided and shown by the metes and bounds and one garden called Sagis Garden as by copy of court roll here held friday being 18.8.1581 it is clearly shown and Joan herself by the steward solely and secretly examined and acknowledged in full court by her husband agreeing as is the custom and in full and open court surrendered the aforesaid premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of his aforesaid steward to the use and behoof of Agnes Birde widow and her assigns for and during the whole term of the natural life of Agnes herself the remainder thereof after her decease to Rich son of Agnes herself and the heirs of the body of Rich himself legitimately procreated and in default of such heirs the remainder thereof to Hen Birde another son of the aforesaid Agnes and the heirs of the body of the aforesaid Hen legitimately procreated and in default of such heirs the remainder thereof to Mary now wife of Jn Lucas daughter of the aforesaid Agnes and the heirs of the aforesaid Mary forever who the same said Agnes and Rich present in court sought for themselves admittance thereof to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Agnes and her assigns for and during the whole term of the natural lifetime of Agnes herself the remainder thereof after her decease to the aforesaid Rich Birde and the heirs of his body legitimately procreated and in default of such heirs the remainder thereof as stated above to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fines as is shown in the margin     and made fealty to the lord and were admitted thereof tenants of the lord
