to this court came Jn Pierson and produced here in full court a certain writing made by a certain Jn Midleton with the seal of Jn Midleton himself signed and sealed with the writing of his hand and he sought for the said writing to be enrolled in the rolls of this court and it was granted to him etc the tenor of which writing in these words be it known to all men by these presents that I Jn Midleton of Earls Colne bricklayer have received and had of Jn Pierson of White Colne yeoman the sum of 7li10s of good lawful money of England due to me the said Jn Midleton upon the day of the date hereof being the feast day of the nativity of st jn bapt 24.6.1612 by force and virtue of a certain surrender and condition therein expressed made by me the said Jn Midleton to the use of the said Jn Pierson and his heirs of certain customary lands and tenements called Mellfielde holden of the manor of Colne Priory by copy of court roll and of the said sum of 7li10s do acquit and discharge the said Jn Pierson his heirs executors and administrators forever by these presents sealed with my seal dated 24.6.10Jas1 Jn Midleton sealed delivered in the presence of us Thos Smithe Rich Ward Robt Cobbe
