it is shown by the homage that Robt Rookes who held for himself and his heirs from the lord of this manor by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor etc one croft of customary land containing 10a of land called Loveneys and an aldercarr with their appurtenances and one pightle with their appurtenances sometime of Jn Matteras late of Thos Rolte and Wm Orvis in right of his wife by copy of a roll of a court here held tuesday being 21.6.1603 it is shown after the last court and before this surrendered the aforesaid premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Reade and Dan Lee customary tenants of this manor and Thos Prior instead of the bailiff the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor to the use and behoof of his last will by which he gave and bequeathed the aforesaid premises to the aforesaid Dorothy his wife for and during the term of the natural lifetime of Dorothy herself and after her death to Robt Rookes son and heir of Robt himself and the heirs of Robt the son himself forever upon which now to this court came the aforesaid Dorothy by the aforesaid Robt her deputy and attorney in this part and the aforesaid Robt in person and sought admittance to the their separate estates of the premises according to the form and effect of the surrender and aforesaid last will to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same said Dorothy and her assigns during the whole term of the natural lifetime of Dorothy herself and after her decease to the aforesaid Robt Rookes and his heirs forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine for such their estates to have as is shown above and the aforesaid Robt made fealty to the lord and the fealty of the aforesaid Dorothy was respited until etc and thus they were admitted thereof tenants of the lord etc
