at this court it is shown by the homage that after the last court and before this court Xoph Isaack customary tenant of this same manor surrendered into the hands of the lord of the aforesaid manor by the hands of Robt Rooks and Dan Lee two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor all that croft of land called Dodingpollhoo held of this same manor by copy of court roll to the use and behoof of Joan Allen one of the daughters of Thos Allen of Earls Colne and the heirs and assigns of Joan herself upon condition however that if the aforesaid Joan Allen or the aforesaid Thos Allen her father or their heirs executors or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Xoph his heirs executors or assigns 12li15s of good and legal english money in the following manner and form viz 40s upon the 25.12.next and 10li15s of good and legal english money on 29.9.next at or in the now dwelling house of Dorothy Rooks widow situated in Earls Colne as written above then this present surrender should remain in full force and strength but if default should be made in any of the aforesaid payments contrary to the above mentioned form that then this present surrender should be void and of no force in law now to this court came the aforesaid Joan and humbly sought admittance from the lord to the aforesaid premises in the aforesaid manner and form to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin to her to have to herself her heirs and assigns forever upon the aforesaid condition to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
