it is shown above by the homage that Jn Hammont before this court and after the last court namely 19.12.1622 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Pierson instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Middleton and Nath Kinge two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor 3a of land more or less called Millfeild which the aforesaid Jn Hammont before this took for himself and his heirs by the surrender of Jn Hodson to the use and behoof of Joan Hammont her heirs and assigns forever upon this condition however that the aforesaid Joan her heirs executors or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to Jn Hammont his executors or assigns the sum of 9li of legal money of England within one year following after the death of Joan wife of the aforesaid Jn Hammont here named for the first time and to Robt Hammont his executors or assigns a similar sum of 9li within the aforesaid time and also to Thos Hammont his executors or assigns the sum of 5li of similar money of England within the aforesaid time to whom the same said Joan present here in court the lord by his aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold to herself and her heirs upon the aforesaid condition from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she made thereof fine and fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof in the aforesaid form tenant etc
