it is also shown by the homage that Jn Church gentleman brother of Barth Church gentleman deceased out of court namely on 13.5.1625 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Simon Ive instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Hawkesbee clerk and Israel Ennewes two customary tenants the same testifying according to the custom of the aforesaid manor one tenement with garden adjoining called Tredgolds lying in Colne St sometime of Jn Botteler and once in the tenure of Jn Barnake shoemaker and lately of Jn Church gentleman deceased with one croft of land adjoining next called Grapnells and with a certain way lying on the western part of the aforesaid tenement leading out of the kings highway into and as far as the said croft as it is now enclosed on all sides to the use and behoof of Sam Burton of Earls Colne tallow chandler and his assigns forever to whom the same said Sam Burton present here in court the lord by his aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold to him the aforesaid Sam his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he made fine and fealty and was admitted etc
