(next entry very unclear) whereas at a view with court here held wednesday being 19.2.3Jas1 Joan Pierson Mary Pierson now dead Kath Pierson now wife of Jonas Bysouth Rose Pierson now wife of Thos Evans and Ann Pierson now wife of Geo Elkyn were admitted tenants of the lord for themselves and their heirs by the surrender of Jn Greene to one piece of land or marsh containing by estimation 1a lying between the river there on one part and a certain lane called Persemellane on the other part as by a copy of a roll of a court here in court produced it is clearly shown now at this court in full and open court came the aforesaid Joan and the aforesaid Jonas Bysouth and Kath his wife Thos Evans and Rose his wife Geo Elkyn and Ann his wife Kath Rose and Ann themselves solely and secretly examined by the aforesaid steward and they surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward the aforesaid piece of land or marsh with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Ambrose Waller and Susan his wife for their lifetimes and to the longer liver and after their decease to the rightful heirs of the said Ambrose forever upon condition that the aforesaid Ambrose his heirs executors or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Joan Jonas Bysouth and Kath his wife Thos Evans and Rose his wife and to Geo Elkyn and Ann his wife the sum of 10li of legal money of England then next following in or at the dwelling house of Joan Pierson situated in White Colne in the county of Essex and the aforesaid Ambrose Waller and Susan his wife present here in court sought admittance to the premises according to the aforesaid surrender to whom the lord by his aforesaid steward granted thereof seisin by the rod to have the aforesaid piece of land or marsh to the aforesaid Ambrose Waller and Susan his wife for their lifetimes and to the longer liver and after their decease to the rightful heirs of the said Ambrose forever to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and according to the above mentioned conditions and they gave to the lord their fine and were admitted thereof tenants of the lord
