whereas at a view with court here held 3.10.1607 Sam Burton was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one tenement with garden adjoining in Earls Colne sometime of Wm Waite with appurtenances as by a roll of the aforesaid court it appears now at this court it is shown by the homage that after the last court and before this court the aforesaid Sam Burton died thus seised thereof and that Sam Burton junior is his son and next heir and of full age upon which came here into court the aforesaid Sam Burton and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid tenement and garden with appurtenances to the aforesaid Sam Burton his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rent of 3d per annum and by all other services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine and was admitted tenant
