whereas at a court held for the said manor 23.7.1646 Ralph Josselin clerk was admitted tenant to him and his heirs to one croft of land with a garden enclosed called Mallories upon which a messuage was lately erected and to two other crofts of land lying between Mills Fen and the brook containing 5a more or less and to two other crofts of land one whereof lieth next Sandhills and containeth by estimation 4a and the other croft late parcel of Mill Fen lieth betwixt the said last mentioned croft and the highway leading towards Much Tey now at this court the said Ralph Josselin did come in his own person and did in open court surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of his said steward the said messuage garden crofts of land all other the premises with the appurtenances to the use of Edm Day and Ann his wife and their heirs forever to which said Edm by the hands of Giles Crow his attorney and deputy in that behalf and to the said Ann in her own person the lord of the said manor by the said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage garden and crofts of land and premises with the appurtenances to the said Edm Day and Ann his wife their heirs and assigns forever of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs formerly due and of right accustomed and they gave to the lord for a fine etc
