at this court it was presented by the homage that Jn Ward who held to him and his heirs one customary croft of land with the appurtenances called Kings containing by estimation 2a more or less did since the last court that is to say upon 13.10.last surrender into the hands of the lord of this said manor by the hands of Wm Adams instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Giles Crow and Ambrose Waller two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing the said croft of land with the appurtenances to the use of Jas Day of Earls Colne miller his heirs and assigns forever who being present in court humbly prayed to be admitted tenant to the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said croft of land with the appurtenances to the said Jas Day his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and did his fealty
