and further at this court Benj Ward who held to him and his heirs one croft of customary lands lying on Colneford Hill lately of Jn Bridges did come in his own person and in open court did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of his said steward the said croft of land with the appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jas Day of Earls Colne aforesaid miller his heirs and assigns who being present in court humbly prayed to be admitted tenant of the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said croft of land with appurtenances to the said Jas Day his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs formerly due and of right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine and did his fealty
