Wm May to The Harrow | whereas at a court held for the said manor 31.12.1651 Joseph Elliston of Dengie Essex gentleman was admitted tenant of the lord to him and his heirs to three parcels of land and pasture called The Harrow lying and being in Great Maplested or elsewhere one head abutting upon a lane leading from Hopwell towards Alderford Mill of the one part and the other head thereof abutting upon the lane leading from Alderford Mill aforesaid towards Great Maplested aforesaid and lying upon the lands late of Math Elliston late in the tenure or occupation of Edw Elliston of Hedingham Sible or his assigns upon the one part now at this court it was presented by the homage that the said Joseph Elliston since the last court that is to say upon 10.5.1659 did come before the said steward at his chamber in Grays Inn Middx and did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of his said steward according to the custom of the said manor the said three parcels of land with appurtenances and all other his customary lands and tenements held of the said manor to the use of Wm May of Maplested aforesaid gentleman and of his heirs and assigns forever who being present in court did desire to be admitted tenant of the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward hath granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said parcels of land and all other the premises with their appurtenances to the said Wm May his heirs and assigns of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and he gave to the lord for his fine |
