Mabel Elliston to Preistlands | whereas at a court here held 13.1.11Chas1 Edw Elliston gentleman took for himself and his heirs by copy of a court roll the reversion of one parcel of land called Preistlands lying in Earls Colne when they should occur by or after the death of Thos Prior senior who then held the premises for his lifetime now at this court it was shown by the homage that the aforesaid Thos Prior afterwards and sometime before this court died and that the aforesaid Edw Elliston after the last court died seised of the premises upon which came here into court Mabel Elliston widow late wife of the said Edw and produced here in court the testament and last will of the said Edw bearing the date 5.4.1663 the tenor of which concerning the premises among other things in the following english words first I give all my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments situate lying and being in the parish of Earls Colne aforesaid both free and copy hold unto my dear wife Mabel Elliston for and during the term of her natural life according as by the testament and aforesaid last will proved before Mundeford Branston knight doctor of law officer and secretary of the Colchester archdeaconry it plainly appears and upon this the aforesaid Mabel by Rich Harlakenden gentleman in this part her attorney and deputy sought admittance as tenant of the lord for the premises to whom the same said Mabel by the hands of her attorney and aforesaid deputy the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid parcel of land called Priestlands with appurtenances to the aforesaid Mabel Elliston for her lifetime from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine saving the right etc |
