(very faded) it is shown by the homage that Robt Carter surrendered on 14.5.==== into the hands of the lord by the hands of Walt Pease instead of the bailiff in the presence of two customary tenants of the aforesaid manor the same testifying all that messuage sometime of Thos Machin and then in the tenure of Thos Osborne and one part of Great Orchard divided from the rest with appurtenances now or late in the tenure or occupation of the same Robt Carter to the use of the aforesaid Thos Osborne his heirs and assigns forever to which the aforesaid Robt Carter at a court here held 1.1.1646 took for himself now to this court came the aforesaid Thos Osborne and sought admission for himself from the lord to the aforesaid premises to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid messuage and other premises to the same said Thos Osborne his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine etc
