admittance of Sam Burton | whereas at a court here held 2.11.1653 Jas Burton was admitted for himself and his heirs to one customary messuage or tenement called Thredgolds or otherwise with appurtenances and to one croft of land containing by estimation 2a more or less then or lately in the tenure or occupation of Francis Smith now at this court it is presented by the homage that on 16.3.last the aforesaid Jas surrendered the premises into the hands of the lord by the hands of Robt Taylor instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Jn Garrett and Robt Harris two customary tenants of this manor the same testifying etc to the use and behoof of Sam Burton his heirs and (sic) forever upon which came here into court the aforesaid Sam and humbly sought from the lord admittance to the aforesaid premises as tenant to whom the lord by the aforesaid steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the aforesaid messuages and other premises with appurtenances to the same said Sam Burton his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the aforesaid manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord for a fine etc |
