to this court came Geo Layer and Mary his wife and Mary herself solely and secretly examined by the lord's steward and acknowledged surrendered into the hands of the lord one cottage with curtilage adjoining plus their appurtenances and about 2a2r of land etc lying in the said Colne as by the metes and bounds etc namely with this intention that the lord should thus regrant seisin thereof of the said cottage with curtilage and appurtenances 2a2r of land with appurtenances to the aforesaid Geo and Mary his wife to hold to themselves and their heirs from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor etc and the lord by virtue of the said surrender of the seisin of the said cottage with curtilage of the said 2a2r of land regranted out of his hands to the aforesaid Geo and Mary the said cottage and other premises with appurtenances to hold to themselves their heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor etc and they gave to the lord their fine as is shown in the margin
