Sept. 28. This week the lord was good and merciful to me and all mine, wife and little John very well, all in health, and yet the smallpox continues still in 2 or 3 families in the town, the lord very good to us in the season, which was through mercy, very abundant and comfortable, the lord helped me in some measure against the evils and vanities of my heart, good to me in the Sabbath work, and mercy, my son John was baptised this day. this was my own fathers name, the lord make him a gracious and holy John, and an instrument to do Jesus Christ much service in his generation.
