July. 17. The week past divers days very hot, and dry, pastures burn away exceedingly, the lord in mercy remember us in the seasons, reserve to us the harvest. my son John very ill this night, the Lord in mercy be his health, and let him live in thy sight, a servant of yours, and a great comfort to my grey hairs, and so for my poor posterity also. I humbly entreat thee, I find my heart not attending with that diligence, and zeal to the work of god as it ought, oh when shall I recover from under this sloth, and unspiritualness and serve god with more freedom of spirit.
