whereas at a court here held tuesday being 19.12.1609 Rich Allen was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one tenement or cottage thus adjoining to one head of the messuage called Masons lying within the churchyard of the said Colne parcel of the said tenement called Masons containing in length 16ft and in breadth 17ft as by copy of the roll of the same said court here in this full court produced and shown now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Rich Allen after the last court and before this court viz 9.4.last surrendered the said premises with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Catte instead of the bailiff in the presence of Robt Rookes senior and Jn Warde customary tenants of the manor the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of Jn Hum and his heirs upon condition that if Rich Allen his heirs executors or assigns should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Jn Hum his heirs executors or assigns the sum of 20li10s etc at or before the next court to be held for this said manor at or in the dwelling house of the same Jn Hum situated in Bures St Mary Suffolk the same said surrender should be shown void and with no force in law otherwise should remain enrolled with effect now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Rich Allen nor anyone on his behalf paid nor caused to be paid nor anyone on his behalf paid to the aforesaid Jn Hum or his assigns the said sum of 20li10s or any part thereof upon which now to this court came the said Jn Hum and sought from the lord for himself admittance thereof to whom the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same Jn Hum and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant of the lord
