item it is shown by the homage that Jn Woodward who held for himself and his heirs from the lord of this manor etc one cottage with garden adjoining called Littmans with appurtenances as by copy of a roll of court here held tuesday being 28.2.1605# here in this court produced and clearly shown died and before his death after the last court surrendered the said cottage and garden with appurtenances to the lord by the hands of Lance Lock instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Peirson and Robt Crowe customary tenants of this manor the same testifying according to the custom of the said manor to the use and behoof of Eliz wife of Jn Woodward himself for and during all the natural lifetime of Eliz herself and after her decease to the use and behoof of Ann Harlakenden one of the daughters of Thos Harlakenden gentleman and her heirs forever upon which to this court came the said Eliz Woodward and sought from the lord admission thereof to whom the lord by his said steward granted seisin thereof to have to the same Eliz and her assigns for and during the whole of the natural lifetime of Eliz herself the remainder thereof to the said Ann to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine and made fealty to the lord and was admitted thereof tenant saving the rights etc and afterwards this present court sitting came the said Eliz and in full court surrendered the said cottage with garden with appurtenances into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward to the use and behoof of the said Ann and her heirs forever which same Ann present here in court sought from the lord admittance thereof for herself to whom the lord by his said steward granted thereof seisin to have to the same Ann and her heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and she gave to the lord her fine and fealty was respited until etc and she was admitted thereof tenant
