whereas at a view with court here held 21.3.1611 Joan Carter widow late wife of Robt Carter her husband at that time deceased was admitted tenant of the lord to a certain customary cottage with certain gardens pertaining to the same with all and singular their appurtenances called Cloviers to hold for herself and her assigns for the term of her natural life the remainder thereof after her decease to Robt Carter son (grandson) of the said Robt and his heirs as by copy of a roll of the said court clearly shown now to this court came the aforesaid Robt Carter the son (grandson) in person and sought admittance to his said remainder when it should happen by and after the death of the aforesaid Joan to whom the same said Robt the son (grandson) at his petition the lord by his said steward granted and delivered thereof seisin by the rod to have to himself and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he made therefore to the lord fine and fealty and was admitted thereof tenant etc and afterwards likewise to this same said court came the aforesaid Robt Carter the son (grandson) in person and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the aforesaid steward all that reversion or his said remainder of and in the said cottage gardens and other premises pertaining to the same with their several appurtenances called Cloviers when it should happen and occur by and after the death of the aforesaid Joan to the use and behoof of Mary Prior wife of Thos Prior of Earls Colne her heirs and assigns forever to whom the same said Mary present here in court the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have to herself and her heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents customs and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and the aforesaid Mary gave to the lord her fine for such entry as is shown in the margin and made fealty and was admitted thereof tenant etc
