at this court it is shown by the homage that Thos Prior junior after the last court and before this court viz 18#.4.1628 surrendered into the lands of the lord by the hands of Simon Ive instead of the bailiff in the presence of Summerson and Lance Prior two customary tenants of the same manor the same witnessing according to the custom of the same manor all that tenement or cottage called with appurtenances held of the said manor to the use and behoof of Clem Turnor of the said Earls Colne baker and his heirs forever who present here in court sought admittance to the premises to whom the lord by his said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have the said tenement or cottage with appurtenances to the said Clem Turnor and his heirs to hold from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and was admitted thereof tenant and afterwards to the same court and in full and open court and the court sitting came the said Clem Turnor and surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward the same said premises to the use and behoof of Clem Turnor himself and (rest illegible but probably to his wife)
