(very faint in places) at this court it is shown by the homage that Geo Abbott who held one barn one stable and parcel of customary curtilage lying in Earls Colne then in the tenure of Jn Hatch butcher which he held to himself and his heirs at a court here held 27.12.1638 as is shown by the said court roll after the last court and before this court viz 20.3.1639 he surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said Wm Hatch instead of the bailiff in the presence of Jn Reade and Dan Lea two customary tenants of this said manor according to the customs of the said manor the said barn stable and parcel of curtilage with appurtenances in the tenure of the said Wm Hatch (sic) to the use and behoof of Jos Hunt yeoman his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said barn and other premises with appurtenances to the said Jos Hunt his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty and was admitted tenant
