at this court it is shown by the homage that Sam Game customary tenant of this manor after the last court viz 22.4.1639 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Adams instead of the bailiff in the presence of Dan Lea and Jn Smith two customary tenants of the said manor according to the customs of the said manor all that messuage or tenement and two closes or crofts of land with appurtenances containing about 8a called Bowrefeilds or by whatever name they are called lying in Earls Colne to the use and behoof of Agnes Game and Eliz Game daughters of the said Sam and to the heirs and assigns of the said Agnes and Eliz forever upon the condition that they allow Grace Game to have and to live in the said messuage for her lifetime but because no one came to agree upon a fine with the lord etc therefore proclamation was three times made and no one came therefore there was a precept to the bailiff of the manor to seize etc
