and furthermore whereas at a court here held 26.12.1639 it was shown by the homage that Sam Game surrendered into the hands of the lord one messuage or tenement and two closes or crofts of land with appurtenances containing about 8a called Bowerfeild to the use and behoof of Agnes Game and Eliz Game his daughters and their heirs upon condition that they allow Grace Game to live in the said messuage during her lifetime as is shown by the said court roll now at this court came the said Agnes and Eliz and humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the said Agnes and Eliz their heirs and assigns forever upon the said condition from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine and made fealty and afterwards in the same court and the court sitting came the said Agnes and Eliz and in full and open court surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of his said steward the said messuage and other premises with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Rich Harlakenden lord of the said manor his heirs and assigns upon condition that if the said Agnes and Eliz their heirs executors or administrators or any of them pay or cause to be paid to the said Rich Harlakenden his executors or assigns in or at the manor house of the lord called Colne Priory the sum of 8li only in the following way viz 4li in or upon 25.3.1641 and 4li in or on 24.6.1641 then the said surrender to be null and void
