and furthermore at this court it is shown by the homage that Hen Cony customary tenant of this manor after the last court viz 9.9.1640 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Mich Heyward instead of the bailiff in the presence of Wm Adams and Jas Burton two customary tenants of the said manor all that his messuage on Colneford Hill in Earls Colne called Copes with all buildings yards gardens and appurtenances pertaining to the said messuage to the use and behoof of the said Hen Cony and Mary his wife for their lifetimes and to the longer liver and after their decease to the use and behoof of the rightful heirs of the said Hen Cony forever upon the condition that the said Mary or her heirs pay Jane Cony daughter of the said Hen by his first wife 10li within two years following the death of the said Hen Cony
