whereas at a court here held 11.7.1633 Jn Stephens was admitted tenant of the lord for himself and his heirs to one cottage of tenement with garden and part of one well with appurtenances as is shown by the said court roll now at this court it is shown by the homage that the said Jn Stephens after the last court viz 8.11.1647 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Wm Adams junior instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Edw Cresner gentleman and Wm senior two customary tenants of the said manor testifying the aforesaid cottage or tenement with garden and part of the well and appurtenances to the use and behoof of Edw Somerson his heirs and assigns who present in court humbly sought admittance to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage or tenement garden and part of the well with appurtenances to the said Edw Somerson his heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he paid his fine and made fealty
