whereas at a court held for the said manor 16.1.1654 Thos Somerson was admitted tenant in remainder to him and his heirs after the death of Agnes Somerson to one messuage or tenement called Francis with the appurtenances now at this court it was presented by the homage that since the last court the said Agnes died and it was further presented by the homage that the said Thos Somerson after the death of the said Agnes that is to say upon 1.5.last did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Jn Kent in place of the lord's bailiff and in the presence of Edw Potter and Robt Davye two customary tenants of the said manor the same witnessing the said messuage or tenement with the garden and appurtenances to the same belonging then in the tenure of Francis Somerson and Chas Harris or one of them to the use of Wm Davy and Jane his wife and of the heirs of their body lawfully begotten and for want of such issue to the use of the heirs and assigns of the said Wm Davy forever whereupon at this court the said Wm and Jane his wife did come and desired to be admitted tenants to the same to whom the lord of the said manor by his said steward did grant and deliver thereof seisin by the rod to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement and garden with the appurtenances to the said Wm and Jane and to the heirs of their bodies lawfully begotten and for default of such issue to the said Wm and his heirs of the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents and services due and they gave to the lord for their fine and the said Wm did his fealty
