at this court it was presented by the homage that Jn Stephens the elder a customary tenant of the said manor since the last court that is to say upon 10.1.1659 did surrender into the hands of the lord of the said manor by the hands of Jn Pearse in place of the bailiff and in the presence of Isaac Paine and Edw Clerke two customary tenants of the said manor witnessing the same etc all his copyhold messuage or tenement with the orchard garden plat and appurtenances to the same belonging to the use of Joan Stephens his wife for the term of her natural life and after her decease to the use of Sammon Stephens his son Susan Paretree daughter of the said Jn and then the wife of Wm Peartree and of Alice Coote one other of the daughters of the said Jn Stephens and then the wife of Rich Coote equally to be divided amongst them and afterwards and before this court the said Jn Stephens died but because after proclamation thrice made according to the custom of the said manor none came to be admitted tenant to the same a precept was made to the bailiff to seize the said premises into the lord's hands etc
