at this court it was presented by the homage that Hugh Greene and Rachel his wife customary tenants of the said manor in right of Rachel herself after the last court viz 3.6.1661 came before the said Jn Joscelyne steward of the said manor and Rachel herself first by the said steward solely and secretly examined as is the custom and consenting the said Hugh and Rachel by the rod surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of the said steward one half of one messuage and garden called Morses and one parcel of land adjoining the said messuage on the east to the use and behoof of Jas Gibson son and heir of Jas Gibson late of Lexden miller deceased and the heirs and assigns of the said Jas Gibson the son forever upon condition that if the said Hugh and Rachel or either of them their heirs executors or assigns or any of them pay or cause to be paid to the said Jas Gibson the son his executor or his assigns at the dwelling house of Mary Bircher widow situated in the said Lexden 3li of legal money upon 4.6.1662 and 53li of legal English money upon 5.6.1663 that then the said surrender should be null and void
