at this court it was presented by the homage that Edm Pilgrim who held for himself and his heirs by copy of court roll bearing date 2.11.1652 one messuage or tenement called Goulds also Goldgate and parcels of land containing by estimation 15a after the last general court viz 26.9.1662 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Jn Clarke instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams senior and two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying etc the said messuage or tenements and five parcels of land with appurtenances to the use and behoof of Jas Lynnett of Markeshall Essex yeoman his heirs and assigns forever who present in court humbly sought admittance as tenant of the lord for the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said premises with appurtenances to the said Jas his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and made fealty
