at this court it was shown by the homage that Thos Harvy who held for himself and his heirs by copy of court roll bearing the date 4.6.1628 one messuage or cottage called Frances and the yard and garden pertaining to the said messuage or cottage with appurtenances after the last general court viz 10.5.1665 surrendered into the hands of the lord by the hands of Simon Hayward instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Wm Adams and Giles Crowe two customary tenants of the said manor the same testifying etc the said messuage or cottage and other premises with appurtenances then in the separate tenure and occupation of Antho Garrard and Robt Strutt or their assigns to the use and behoof of Jn Finch of Earls Colne blacksmith and Hannah his wife and their heirs and assigns forever whereupon came here into court the said Jn Finch and Hannah and sought admittance as tenants of the lord to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said premises with appurtenances to the said Jn and Hannah their heirs and assigns from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the custom of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and they gave to the lord their fine etc
