at a court held for the said manor 9.6.5Chas1 Edw Potter and Hugh son of the said Edw were admitted tenants of the lord for themselves and their heirs to one cottage lately built upon a parcel of waste field of the said manor containing 14p lying upon the Hall Greene between the customary lands then     Polley on the east with one head abutting upon the king's highway towards the south and the other head thereof abutting upon the cemetery of Earls Colne church towards the north now at this court it was shown by the homage that the said Hugh about twenty years ago died abroad and that he died in the lifetime of the said Edw as they believe without heirs of his body and that the said Edw after the last court died solely seised of the premises and that Edw Potter if the said Hugh died without heirs of his body is the son and heir of the said Edw deceased and has the right to the premises upon which came into court the said Edw Potter the son and suo piculo# sought admittance for himself to the premises to whom the lord by the said steward granted and delivered seisin thereof by the rod to have and to hold the said cottage and parcel of land with appurtenances to the said Edw the son his heirs and assigns forever from the lord by the rod at the will of the lord according to the customs of the said manor by the rents services and customs thereunto belonging and by right accustomed and he gave to the lord his fine and thus was admitted tenant thereof saving the right etc
