whereas at a court here held 4.4.1671 Rich Apleton junior and Ann his wife were admitted tenants of the lord of the manor aforesaid to one cottage late parcel of the waste soil of the manor situate on Colne Green now or late in the occupation of the said Rich now at this court the said Rich and Ann his wife the said Ann solely and secretly examined by the steward and consenting surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of the steward the said cottage and premises to the use of Jn Carter of Halstead carpenter his heirs and assigns forever upon which afterwards at this court came the said Jn and humbly petitioned admittance etc to whom the steward delivered seisin etc to have and to hold the said cottage etc to the said Jn Carter his heirs and assigns of the lord etc and he gave the lord for fine etc
