whereas at a court here held 12.7.1664 Geo Cressener gentleman was admitted to him and his heirs to three crofts of land called Petcrofts alias Peticrofts with appurtenances containing by estimation 4a now at this court it appeared to the homage that the said Geo 9.6.1671 surrendered into the lord's hands by the hands of Thos Walford instead of the bailiff and in the presence of Jn Fletcher and Jn Finch two customary tenants etc the said crofts to the use of Hen Abbott his heirs and assigns forever upon the condition that if Jn Kendall of Earls Colne aforesaid his heirs executors or assigns pay or cause to be paid to Hen Abbutt his executors of assigns 26li10s of legal money of England in or upon 10.6.1672 then the surrender of the said crofts and parcel of customary land aforesaid should be to the proper use of the said Jn Kendall his heirs and assigns forever which Hen Abbutt present here in court gave the homage intelligence that the said sum of 26li10s at this time had not been paid and also at this court it was presented by the homage that the said Jn Kendall died after the last court and that Jn Kendall is his son and heir who present here in court petitioned admittance to whom the steward delivered seisin to have and to hold the said lands with appurtenances to the said Jn Kendall his heirs and assigns of the lord etc and he gave fine for his father's admittance and for himself and fealty by the grace of the lord was respited
