at a court held 16.10.1673 Rich Sillitoe was admitted to him and heirs to one tenement called Cocks lying in Holtstreet with yard and garden with appurtenances then in occupation Robt Axell and now (in occupation of) Wm Bateman and at a court held 4.10.1711 etc Rich Sillitoe 17.9.1711 last surrendered by rod into hand of the lord by hand of Sam Burton in place of the bailiff in presence of and Jn Pratt two customary tenants etc to proper use of Jn Cressener of Earls Colne esq his heirs forever on condition that if said Rich Sillitoe his executors administrators or assigns pay or cause to be paid to said Jn Cressener his heirs executors administrators or assigns sum of 7li with interest on 17.9.1712 that then the surrender to be void now to this court comes Jn Cressener by Sam Burton in role of attorney or deputy and gives the lord information that the said sum was not paid on the day it should be paid and the said sum until now remains unpaid after he humbly petitions etc admitted to premises etc fealty respited
