fine 6s8d to this court etc came Joan Stonewen late wife of Jn Bryght by the steward solely examined and consenting Wm Oldhall and Jn Turnor and surrendered into the hands of the lord one capital messuage in Earls Colne with one half of a rentary adjoining with garden adjoining as it is situated between a certain rentary sometime pertaining to the aforesaid capital messuage placed and testified by the bounds there to the use of Jn Levyng and Clem his wife Ralph Audale and Jn Smyth their heirs and assigns upon the following condition viz that the said Joan should have custody of half of the close of the aforesaid messuage with its proper expenses and the said Jn Levyng should have custody of the other part of the close with its proper expenses and also the said Joan agreed to retu rn annually to the aforesaid Jn Levyng 1h of the rent and 1d as the whole fine for one rentary for the aforesaid Joan reserved in her own use and as mentioned above the said Joan should return to the aforesaid Jn Levyng in 15Hen6 as it should arise 4d and further the said Joan and her cofeoffees should pay or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Jn his heirs and assigns or their rightful attorney at michaelmas.next 2s and at easter then next following 2s of english money and thus from year to year and from term to term annually always to be paid at the aforesaid feasts until payment of 18s should be fully paid and upon this the said Jn Leving and his cofeoffees should pay or cause to be paid to Jn Cosyn otherwise called Aubry# his heirs and assigns or his rightful attorney at michaelmas.next 40s and at the feast of easter then next following 20s and at the feast of michaelmas then next following 20s and thus from year to year and term to term always to be paid at the aforesaid feasts of michaelmas and easter 20s in equal portions until the sum of 10li6s8d should be fully paid provided always that in the last term should be paid 26s8d and if it should happen that the aforesaid sum of 10li6s8d or any payment within written should be in arrears in part or in whole for fifteen days after any of the given and announced terms when they ought to be paid that then truly it should be allowed to the aforesaid Joan her heirs and assigns to reenter into the aforesaid capital messuage with rentery and garden adjoining with its appurtenances and to keep them this present possession and seisin etc notwithstanding to whom upon this freely seisin was given to have and to hold to the same their heirs and assigns by the rod at the will of the lord by the ancient ser vices and customs etc saving the right etc and they gave to the lord for a fine etc and made fealty
