to this court came Hen Burton and Jeff Audeley and surrendered into the lord's hands one cottage with a curtilage and appurtenances sometime called Copes and it lieth between the messuage sometime Steph Miller's of the one part and the garden of Jn Wright of the other part one head abuts on the way leading towards Colchester to the use of Wm Swattock and Wm Potter to whom there is seisin thereof delivered by the rod to hold to the same Wm and Wm their heirs and assigns to the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor doing and yielding etc yet on the condition following viz that if the said Wm Swattock pay or cause to be paid to Hen Burton or his attorney 3li10s viz at xmas.next 5s at pentecost following 5s from year to year and feast to fea st until the foresaid sum of 3li10s be fully paid they this present surrender to stand in the force and effect on pain of reentry for default of payment etc and if default be made etc
